Well, continuing the trend of actors from the ‘Star Wars’ franchise weighing in on social media this holiday season about ‘The Last Jedi,’ Finn himself, John Boyega, has decided to express himself on Twitter, attempting to be the voice of reason to fans who cannot see eye to eye over the differing reactions to the movie. On Wednesday, December 27th, he posted the following, somewhat sarcastic but relatively level-headed comment calling for people to remember that everyone is entitled to their own opinion:

Of course, for me, the irony is the fact that Boyega’s storyline in the film is one of the weaker elements, which is one of my few complaints. After more of less being the driving force (no pun intended) of ‘Episode VII: The Force Awakens,’ it almost felt like Rian Johnson did not know what to do with Finn in ‘The Last Jedi,’ hence the random B-plot of sending him to Canto Bight for the pointless retrieval of a hacker that did not even pan out, and the ultimately futile trip to the First Order ship that could basically have been cut from the movie without much lost (the Phasma fight was another disappointment that could have been cut). All of which is a real shame because of the star power of John Boyega, and the fact that Finn and Rose are actually quite entertaining on screen together, which was the only saving grace of the Canto Bight B-Plot, and why I guess Rian Johnson did not cut more of that out of the film.

In the end, though, I do agree with Boyega that regardless of people’s individual feelings toward the film, they should recognize that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and from what I’ve seen, there are just as many people who love ‘The Last Jedi’ as hate it.

What are your thoughts on the matter? Is Boyega out of line calling people out for not being more tolerant about the film and people’s opinions about it? Or is he justified in commenting on the craziness of some of the fans right now? Share your thoughts below!
