Paramount Pictures is currently in the works of rebooting a popular Stephen King film and now we’ve learned when ‘Pet Sematary‘ will be released! This reboot of Stephen King‘s classic will specifically be out on April 19th, 2019 and will be a new take on the 1983 novel. Directors Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch have an uphill battle in front of them as while the 1989 feature film which originally told a cinematic take on the story might not have aged well, it was penned by King himself which means it is close to the heart for many of his fans.

Jeff Buhler has written the new take on the novel and the movie will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, and Steven Schneider.

The original novel, and likely this remake, will follow Louis Creed whose family recently moved into a house next to Indian burial grounds. They learn that when animals are buried there, they’ll return to the land of the living though it is quite clear to audiences that these animals aren’t what they once were. When Creed’s son dies, he buries him there for the hope of a second chance though just like the animals, what returns isn’t quite what left the land of the living.

This will mark the second Stephen King film released in 2019 as the sequel to ‘It’ is due to drop on September 6th, 2019. Hopefully, this won’t suffer the same tragic box office fate of ‘The Dark Tower‘ and will give us the same kind of thrills and chills which ‘It’ was able to pull off.

Are you looking forward to a new take on ‘Pet Sematary’? Do you think that the original film aged well enough to not need a reboot or will this be something for horror fanatics everywhere to check out? Share your thoughts below!
