Variety has recently learned that Wilson Bethel has just landed a series regular role in Season 3 of ‘Daredevil’ over on Netflix, though what character he is playing exactly is being kept under wraps (as is usually the case with any Marvel project). You may remember Bethel from his roles on the CW series ‘Hart of Dixie,’ playing Ryder Callahan on ‘The Young and the Restless,’ or for his role as Evan “Q-Tip” Stafford in HBO’s ‘Generation Kill.’ He has also popped up in recent years on ‘The Bates Motel,’ ‘How To Get Away With Murder,’ and ‘Harley and the Davidsons.’

The only thing we know about his role on ‘Daredevil’ is that is will be an FBI agent who will supposedly play an important part in the conflict between Matt Murdock (aka Daredevil) and Wilson Fisk (aka The Kingpin) in Season 3.

Rumor has it that the character might be the Marvel villain known as the Sin-Eater, who in the comics is a former SHIELD agent turn NYPD officer with the name of Stanley Carter, who after taking an experimental drug, goes insane and decides it is his job to punish those he sees as “sinful,” whether they be criminals or even people in law enforcement like judges or other police officers. As such, Sin-Eater ended up going against both Daredevil and Spider-Man in the comics.

For ‘Daredevil’ Season 3, speculation has it that if Bethel is playing the Sin-Eater, then he might be taking the place of Nuke (i.e. Frank (Will) Simpson) in the ‘Born Again’ storyline from the comics that many are assuming Season 3 is going to be based on. Nuke was already set up to be a character in ‘Jessica Jones’ and it is unlikely he will be crossing over to ‘Daredevil’ without first finishing his arc on that show. In the ‘Born Again’ arc, Fisk hires Nuke to kill Daredevil, so swapping out Nuke with Sin-Eater does not sound too complicated in this scenario.

What do you think of the addition of Bethel to the cast of ‘Daredevil’ for Season 3? Do you have any idea on who he might be playing, or do you agree with the Sin-Eater theory?
