It’s not all about the heroes. Where would Green Arrow be without Felicity Smoak and John Diggle? Or The Flash without Iris, Joe, Caitlyn, Cisco, and Harry? While we assume that ‘Titans’ will deal mainly with the main team– Nightwing (Brenton Thwaites), Starfire (Anna Diop), Raven (Teagan Croft) and Beast Boy (still uncast) with recurring allies Hawk (Alan Ritchson) and Dove (Minka Kelly), there will be others around to enrich their day-to-day lives.
Titans’ has added Lindsey Gort as Police Detective Amy Rohrbach. Gort has appeared on numerous shows in guest roles, most recently on ‘Lucifer’ as Candy Morningstar. She was a cast regular on the controversial drama ‘Impastor’ as Ashlee and as a young Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall’s ‘Sex and the City’ character) on ‘The Carrie Diaries’.
Amy Rohrbach was a supporting character in the ‘Nightwing’ comic book during the early 2000s. She was a senior officer and a rare honest cop in the seedy town of Blüdhaven. She was even part of a secret organization called The Circle, dedicated to sniffing out crooked cops. Extremely observant, she initially suspected Dick Grayson of being a plant by corrupt higher-ups after figuring out that strings had been pulled in order to secure him a spot on the Blüdhaven PD. She eventually figures out that Grayson’s secretive behavior was a ruse to hide his secret double life as the vigilante Nightwing, but keeps his identity safe.
In the comics, Rohrbach is not a romantic interest for Dick as she is already married with two children. Of course, other characters have been radically altered in being translated from one form to another and Gort is awfully attractive… hmmmm.
‘Titans’ will premiere next year on Warner Brothers’ upcoming DC Comics streaming subscription service. The show will be executive produced by Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. Goldsman, Johns, and Berlanti are penning the pilot script together.
Not much is known about the project at this point. In fact, Thwaites’ character has yet to be officially referred to as Nightwing. But we do know that the show will revolve around Dick Grayson’s evolution from pupil to his own man. In doing so he will assemble a team “from every corner of the DC Universe.” The first villain the heroes will face is called The Acolyte, who in the comics, was a delusional fraud pretending to be the servant of a powerful goddess, Kali. On ‘Titans,’ his deity may be someone closer to the characters– Raven’s father Trigon.
