Evan Peters

While the recent spate of X-Men films – specifically, those featuring the “younger,” rebooted versions of the characters as first seen in 2011’s ‘X-Men: First Class’ – have received mixed reviews and reception from fans, there’s no denying that the franchise is easily popular enough to warrant further film installments.  The next film up, recently announced as ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix,’ will focus on the seminal comic-book storyline that sees original team member Jean Grey possessed/inhabited by the cosmic power known as The Phoenix.

Many actors have already been confirmed to be bringing their characters back in this film, including Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), James McAvoy (Professor Xavier), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), and Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler).  Rumored to be in talks for the role of alien queen Lilandra was Jessica Chastain, although no official confirmation of her involvement has been made as of yet.

What has been made official, however (per THR), is the return of Evan Peters and his portrayal of Quicksilver, a character that has quickly become a fan favorite here in the X-films.  Featured in the last two movies, ‘X’Men: Days of Future Past’ and ‘X-Men: Apocalypse,’ Peters’ portrayal of the speedy mutant particularly shines in highlight scenes where the action is shown from Quicksilver’s perspective, where he is so fast that the rest of the world is shown in slow motion as he sees it.  If you’re unfamiliar, take a peek at this awesome scene from ‘Apocalypse:’

Even though Quicksilver was not included in the comic version of the Dark Phoenix saga, he should make for a fun addition to the tale!

‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ is currently slated to premiere in American theaters on November 2, 2018.
