Taissa-Farmiga-ahs

We’ve recently learned that the second spin-off from ‘The Conjuring’ has cast Taissa Farmiga (‘American Horror Story’) in the leading role as ‘The Nun.’ Just Like the first installment of ‘The Franchise’ gave us ‘Annabelle,’ now we have a new low budget piece or horror that will likely be printing money when it is released on the big screen. Horror geeks might wonder why that specific name is causing an itch at the back of their skull and that’s because the franchise is keeping it all in the family, literally.

The leading creature in ‘The Nun’ was first installed by haunting Lorraine Warren in ‘The Conjuring 2.’ The same Warren played by Vera Farmiga (‘Bates Motel.’) Yes, they’re sisters, and I hope that means we’ll be given an opportunity for an onscreen moment between the two now that the Nun is actually played by Taissa though it would be doubtful to happen in this first outing.

There aren’t a lot of plot details available about the film quite yet outside of the fact that, like ‘Annabelle: Creation‘ we’ll be seeing more of an origin story from what it sounds like. The only other announced cast member so far is Demián Bichir with Corin Hardy directing the film. James Wan who directed the original movie is on board to produce with Peter Safran. Wan also helped pen the script with Gary Dauberman.

Entertainingly enough, this villain was only added in the last three months of reshoots and was introduced as an afterthought. If the trend continues with how well these films have been received, it will likely be an afterthought which earns the studio tens of millions of dollars.

Are you looking to see Taissa Farmiga as she evolves into ‘The Nun’? Do you think that the entire film will be an origin story or will we see this demonic nun getting her hands dirty? Share your thoughts below!

‘The Nun’ will be haunting theaters on Friday, July 13th, 2017!
