star-wars-from-a-certain-point-of-viewTo celebrate the 40th anniversary of ‘Star Wars‘ we’ve just learned that Del Rey is going to be releasing a new anthology titled ‘Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View’ which will be bringing us a unique perspective of ‘Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.’ This collection will feature “40 stories celebrating 40 years of” the franchise by taking background characters from ‘A New Hope’ and seeing the events unfold through their eyes. It will be a hodgepodge collection with a focus ranging on everything “from X-wing pilots who helped Luke destroy the Death Star to the stormtroopers who never quite could find the droids they were looking for.”

In a galaxy far, far away in the Legends books, this was done around the original trilogy in collections such as ‘Tales of the Bounty Hunters’ and ‘Tales from the New Republic.’ While those concepts were fun, since they are no longer canon it was time to get some fresh tales hat fit the same theme!

The announcement was revealed on Twitter today with the #OperationBlueMilk hashtag with a slew of fun tidbits popping up about the book.

Not only that, but the 40 authors involved have passed on any form of compensation so that their proceeds can be donated to First Book. To further celebrate the launch of this book and both companies’ longstanding relationships with First Book, Penguin Random House has donated $100,000 to First Book, and Disney/Lucasfilm has donated 100,000 children’s books — valued at 1 million dollars.”
