alien-covenant

We’ve all heard that Ridley Scott already has a sequel to ‘Alien: Covenantwritten and ready to go but have just learned that not only is it named ‘Alien: Awakening’ but that it will be a prequel to the film. I wouldn’t be too concerned about this as unlike the five-year turnaround since ‘Prometheus’ we’ve learned that Scott wants to “crank out” as many ‘Alien’ films as he can over the next six years. I suspect that we’re going to be getting a ton of Xenomorphs and much more shortly.

So while the next film won’t be the lead into the original ‘Alien’ movie we are going to be learning more soon.

According to Scott during a recent interview:

“It will go Prometheus, Awakening, Covenant.. fairly integral where this colonization ship is on the way….

Before he could divulge anything more, actress Katherine Waterston cut him off.

While this is pretty early in pre-production, this title could likely just be a working one. However, that didn’t stop Scott from elaborating on his plans for the future of the franchise as well as what will end up leading into the original ‘Alien’:

“There will be another one before we kind of literally and logically, clockwise, back into the rear back head of [the original] Alien… If this is successful, and then the next one, and then there will definitely be three more.”

If nothing more this will hopefully give us an extended view of Noomi Rapace’s Elizabeth Shaw. While she’ll be in ‘Alien: Covenant’ it clearly isn’t as the main role, and this next prequel might let us not only know what has happened in the interim but let her showcase her acting talent once more.

Are you looking forward to upwards of four more films after ‘Alien: Covenant’? Do you think filming the series out of order was the right way to go? Share your thoughts below!
