Ever since Sony started working with Marvel Studios on ‘Spider-Man’ fans have been loving every announcement to surface though this latest one may have some a little apprehensive as ‘Venom‘ is now slated for October 5th, 2018. We’ve known that a ‘Venom’ film was originally in pre-production when the ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ franchise was set to launch an entire Spider-Verse before Tom Holland picking up the mask. The primary concern though is at this time we have no knowledge if this is going to be a stand-alone film which has ties cut from the Marvel Cinematic Universe or will be another brick in the wall that they’ve been building.

Personally, I hope we see Spidey get the black suit at the end of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ so it can somehow be tied in. An R-Rated ‘Venom’ movie could be fun in light of how well ‘Deadpool’ and ‘Logan’ have done, but it wouldn’t fit what Marvel has been building. Also, to completely cut off one of Spidey’s greatest villains into his little boxed off world just seems like wasted potential.

Of course, they are bringing Eddie Brock back to be Venom again starting in issue #150 so maybe that is the hint that we’ll see the character be part of the MCU after all.

The original tweet that brought out the release was:

This date is the one which ‘Aquaman’ just vacated, so it seems like a good time to release it. After the announcement rumor went flying that Alex Kurtzman was set to helm the film, but Sony has clarified at this time that no director is attached though Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner are working on the script.

Not if the studio could only announce if this movie will be part of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe or not.

‘Venom’ will be swinging into theaters on October 5th, 2018.
