the-strange-case-of-the-disappearing-manDark Horse Comics is set to bring a new set of adventures about Inspector Thomas Adye to print in ‘The Strange Case of the Disappearing Man!” This six-issue miniseries is a follow up to the 2011 smash hit ‘The Strange Case of Mr. Hyde’ and double down on the Victorian horror from the first run. The publisher is known for delivering solidly written and illustrated horror so I’m eager to see if this new series will be as fun to read as the first was.

In this series, writer Cole Haddon (‘Space Gladiator’) returns to the world he has created and is teaming up with Sebastián Cabrol (‘Thief: Tales from the City’,’Caliban’) for the artwork with collaborator Hernán Cabrera (‘Caliban’) tackling the colors.

This is the third re-imaging of a classic horror monster now being given to us in the world of Inspector Adye but I wouldn’t want you to for a moment confuse him with Sherlock Holmes as he isn’t that kind of a detective.

In ‘The Strange Case of the Disappearing Man’ we’ll find:

Inspector Thomas Adye of Scotland Yard struggling to return to normalcy after his run-in with Edward Hyde and Jack the Ripper. Adye’s attempts at normalcy evaporate when he’s confronted with the bizarre case of a disappearing man.

During his investigation into the disappearing man, Adye is drawn to an American gentleman on a quest to experience life in new and vibrant ways. Seduced by the man’s philosophies, Adye starts down an uncertain path that may put him in more danger than he’s ever imagined.

I strongly suspect that we’ll have at least one secondary monster in this run as well though Dark Horse hasn’t shared enough details yet to know for sure.
