WonderWoman2

Anticipation continues to mount as ‘Wonder Woman’ draws ever closer.  Reception to ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ were mixed to say the least, but reviews of Gal Gadot‘s performance as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman were nearly universally positive as she provided a bright spot in that otherwise murky narrative.  Reportedly, ‘Wonder Woman’ picks up shortly after the events of ‘Batman V Superman’ with Diana receiving the worn black and white photo seen in ‘BvS’ showing her alongside Steve Trevor and what looks to be a ragtag multinational military strike force.

From there the movie flashes back… WAY back.  In the newest trailer, shared by Gadot herself via Twitter, we get our first glimpses of Diana as an eager young girl, then as a teen training alongside her aunt Antiope (played by Robin Wright) to become the greatest warrior among the Amazons.

From there, we see Steve Trevor’s (Chris Pine) arrival on Themyscira followed by Diana’s declaration that someone must go out into the outer world to face down the rising forces of evil.  She takes with her her famous Magic Lasso and the God Slayer, the powerful sword she was shown seeking in ‘BvS’.  From there we get glimpses of bad guys Danny Huston as General Erich Ludendorff, who is believed to be a cover for the Greek god of war Ares and Elena Anaya as Doctor Maru, who is based on the comic book villain Princess Maru a.k.a. Doctor Poison.

This clip has it all!  Sweeping grandeur, gritty history (“It’s hideous!” Diana remarks upon seeing a war-ravaged London), eye-popping action and even a touch of romance (like a shirtless Chris Pine) and humor (courtesy of Lucy Davis as Etta Candy).
