Alien-Covenant-Skinned-Engineer

The latest red band ‘Alien: Covenant‘ trailer showed quite a few new shots of xenomorphs, but one big question it also made us ask was why is there a skinless Engineer in the movie? It seems that this tie-in to Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus’ was purposely left vague and while Creatures Supervisor Conor O’Sullivan doesn’t give away the full details, he does share a hint at what we can expect. It took some digging to get this new detail so you might want to head back as even with the information being vague, it could be a spoiler for the film.

So what is the reason for the inclusion of this Engineer? Michael Fassbender’s David of course. He has apparently been studying the Engineers, so this is all on him.

At first, O’Sullivan wouldn’t share the details when asked if there was anything he could say he just responded with “not… really”

When push came to shove, he caved and said:

“David’s working on something, he’s actually building… It’s an anatomical study of Engineer.”

That comes up with a whole batch of new questions like how was David able to acquire an Engineer to work with and if it was alive at the time of its capture. Or, if it is somehow even now still alive? Whatever he and Elizabeth Shaw found when they got to the Engineers’ homeworld is something I’m quite curious to see on screen.
