spiderman in homecoming

It seems that we may have just seen the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the full potential of the Spider-Man suit Tom Holland will be wearing in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming.’ Although it is not something I had really thought about up to this point, it seems that the filmmakers are really going to play with the idea that because the suit was made for Peter by Tony Stark, there will be a bit of a learning curve for the young hero when it comes to figuring out everything it can do, which means there might be even more gadgets and enhancements than we had previously thought. According to comments star Tom Holland made at CES 2017 as reported by Finder.com:

“Luckily enough, my best friend in the movie, Ned Leeds, is a complete gamer. And using the Dell Inspiron 15 we were able to tap into the suit and find out some of its cool new exciting features.”

Furthermore, Finder.com reports that apparently Peter and Ned will spend a good amount of the film trying to figure out all the ins and outs of the suit, and aside from the shameless Dell plugs that are sure to go along with it (product placement, whatever), it could lead to some fun scenes of Peter testing out new features of the suit that could harken back to things like the original ‘Iron Man’ when Tony would tinker would the original Iron Man armor and try to see how it all works.

I love the layers this adds to the film as not only does it make so much more sense store-wise for a suit like this to not be made by Peter himself (as in the other cinematic films), but it adds another layer of suspense and tension to every action scene as we do not know when the suit might do something unexpected that could screw up Peter’s plans, or potentially do something amazing (no pun intended) that could help Peter save the day.

All in all, every bit of news I am hearing about ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ just gets me more and more excited for the film, and I am hope that all of these tidbits are not building up the hype too much. Do you like the idea of Peter figuring out all the bells and whistles of his new suit throughout the film? Or are you worried that an overly complicated suit does not fit all that well with the classic Spider-Man sensibilities? Feel free to share your thoughts on the matter in the comments below!
