All good things, as they say, must come to an end.  Such is the case with the impending season of A&E’s creepy Hitchcock-reimagining drama, ‘Bates Motel,’ as the upcoming fifth season with be the show’s last.  Intentionally designed this way, the show will continue down the path that viewers saw in the Season 4 finale (no spoilers here!), with a slight jump ahead in time of almost two years.

Returning stars include Freddie Highmore playing Norman Bates, Vera Farmiga starring as his “Mother” Norma, Max Theriot and Olivia Cooke as family friends Dylan Massett and Emma Decody, respectively, and Nestor Carbonell as Alex Romero, the vengeful former lover of Norma.  Joining this already-solid cast for the final season are Rihanna, Isabelle McNally, Austin Nichols, Brooke Smith, as well as returning faces such as Kenny Johnson and Ryan Hurst.

‘Bates Motel’ is a contemporary prequel to the genre-defining film ‘Psycho,’ and gives a portrayal of how Norman Bates’ (Freddie Highmore) psyche unravels through his teenage years. The show starts out as Norman Bates being portrayed as a regular young man and follows his progression into madness.

The fifth and final season of ‘Bates Motel’ premieres on A&E in the USA on Monday, February 20th at 10:00pm ET/PT.
