Guillermo del Toro is arguably the most imaginative filmmaker of his generation. You know it, I know it, and Netflix knows it. The streaming giant has partnered with del Toro to produce the upcoming animated series ‘Trollhunters’ which premieres today.

Netflix recently released the first season of ‘The OA‘ mere days after dropping the show’s first trailer, and they seem to be taking a similar approach with ‘Trollhunters, releasing this final pre-release clip. The clip, which clocks in at a little over a minute in length, introduces series lead Jim Lake Jr. (played by Anthon Yelchin, in the last performance he completed prior to his untimely death this summer) and demonstrates his transformation into the Trollhunter. This transformation is aided by a mystical amulet that Jim stumbled across while on his way to school. Of course, as tends to be the case with such things, there is a catch. In disturbing the amulet, Jim also inherited the mantle of the Trollhunter, a warrior charged with defending the trolls that live beneath his hometown. You can find the clip below.

From the official synopsis:

From the limitless imagination of acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro comes a tale of two worlds set to collide in the epic saga of DreamWorks’ ‘Trollhunters’. Suddenly destined to play a crucial role in an ancient battle of good and evil, Jim is determined to save the world – right after gym class.

‘Trollhunters’ stars Anton Yelchin, Charlie Saxton, Kelsey Grammer, Ron Perlman, Steven Yeun, Jonathan Hyde, Lexi Medrano, Amy Landecker, and Fred Tatasciore. The series premieres on Netflix today, December 23, 2016.
