Among the many highlights of this year’s ‘Deadpool’ were the various verbal jabs that the titular merc with a mouth aimed at Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. But whatever rivalry there might be between Fox’s mutant anti-heroes does not extend beyond the silver screen.

As some of you may know, Reynolds is due to be honored with a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. To help the actor celebrate the occasion, Hugh Jackman has tweeted a video in which he, as Reynolds, (echoing a ‘Deadpool’ scene in Reynolds dons a crude Hugh Jackman mask) offers a tongue in cheek “thank you” speech. The video is great fun and can be seen below.

Reynolds, meanwhile, has gone on record with his dream ‘X-Men’ project: a crossover of sorts that would see Deadpool and Wolverine share the screen. As with ‘Deadpool’ itself, such a film could serve as a way of making up for the shortcomings of ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’. In describing his ambitions for the (still hypothetical) project, Reynolds both alluded to the social media hype that helped to greenlight ‘Deadpool’ and reiterated his affection for Jackman:

“I want Deadpool and Wolverine in a movie together. What we’re gonna have to do is convince Hugh. If anything, I’m going to need to do what I can to get my internet friends back on board to help rally another cause down the line. Hugh Jackman is one of the best human beings. Part of the reason I want to do a Deadpool/Wolverine movie is not just because I think the two would light the screen on fire but I genuinely love the guy.”

Hugh Jackman is set to make his final appearance as Wolverine (unless Reynolds gets his way…) in the upcoming film ‘Logan’. Based loosely on the acclaimed ‘Old Man Logan’ storyline by Mark Millar, the film is due to be released on March 3, 2017 and has cast that includes Boyd Holbrook, Patrick Stewart, Elise Neal, Stephen Merchant, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Richard E. Grant, and of course, Jackman himself.

Ryan Reynolds, on the other hand, will return as Deadpool in ‘Deadpool 2’, which is currently in pre-production. ‘Deadpool 2’ is set to introduce Cable and ultimately begin to pave the way for the long awaited ‘X-Force’ movie.
