Ignacio Serricchio More news on Netflix’s ‘Lost in Space‘ front has just come our way thanks to Deadline Hollywood, as they have announced yet another actor joining the cast of the remake of the classic TV series. This time, the actor in question joining the likes of Toby Stephens (Mr. Robinson), Molly Parker (Mrs. Robinson), and Parker Posey (Dr. Smith) is Ignacio Serricchio (most well known for his recurring role on ‘Bones’) who will be playing Don West.

For those who may not remember the character from the show, Don West was the pilot of the Jupiter 2 spacecraft (nicknamed Crash West at times), and was stranded with the family after it crashed, and was often times used as a pseudo love interest for the daughter, Judy, a story that I am sure will be taken advantage of in the new series. In the 1990’s movie the character was played by Matt LeBlanc, and he was heavily promoted in the role, so it is interesting to see the role cast so late in the game this time around, and with someone as relatively unknown as Serricchio. Still, there’s nothing wrong with casting an up and comer, especially if they hit the role well in the audition, and it might be yet another sign of ‘Lost in Space’ producers Zack Estrin, Kevin Burns, Jon Jashni, Neil Marshall and Marc Helwig taking a few risks that could pay off handsomely down the line, especially if Serricchio has good chemistry with the rest of the cast.
