Doug Liman may have left Channing Tatum and ‘Gambit’ back at 20th Century Fox in order to tackle the post-apocalyptic thriller ‘Chaos Walking for Lionsgate, but he has certainly found himself some high-caliber heroes to star in his adaptation of the best-selling young adult novel by Patrick Ness. About three months ago, Daisy Ridley of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ fame joined the cast to play Viola Eade, the last woman alive in a world where every female in the world has been wiped out by a virus known as the Noise and every male can hear each other’s thoughts. Now, it looks like Liman may be calling in a friendly neighborhood hero from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to star alongside the Force-wielding actress.

Heart of the Sea

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Holland is currently in talks to star as Todd Hewitt in ‘Chaos Walking’. Todd is the boy who discovers Ridley’s Viola as he attempts to leave town with his dog. The young English actor with a background in theater has been making waves with films like ‘The Impossible’ and ‘In the Heart of the Sea’, but he’s best known for playing Peter Parker AKA the amazing Spider-Man in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and the upcoming ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

Should he lock down this starring role, Holland certainly has a very busy couple of years ahead of him. Not only is he wrapping up his obligations as Spider-Man in the web slinger’s first solo film in the MCU, he may need to don the suit and web shooters again for ‘Avengers: Infinity War’. He has also recently signed on for a period drama titled ‘The Current War’ that stars fellow Marvel Studios alum Benedict Cumberbatch and one-time DC villain Michael Shannon. Knowing how Lionsgate handles YA properties, ‘Chaos Walking’ will probably expand into a trilogy and call him back for two or even three more movies (depending on whether they split the final book into two parts). But whether he takes the role or not, we’re definitely going to see a lot more of Tom Holland in major Hollywood productions and beyond one way or another.

What do you think about the latest casting news for ‘Chaos Walking’? Are you excited to see Tom Holland star opposite Daisy Ridley in the big screen adaptation of this award-winning YA series? Let us know in the comments.
