While we knew when we could see ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story‘ in theaters we didn’t know when we could buy tickets, until now. Thanks to Atom Tickets, we’ve learned that this coming Monday, November 28th, 2016 at 12:01 am is when we’ll be able to pick them up for the US release which is exactly a week after the UK tickets went up for sale. Moviegoers who went to see ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ knows exactly why this date is so important. When tickets went on sale for the last Star Wars film the Internet ticketing systems everywhere crashed out on us.
Currently, the pic hit tracking boards are projecting that the movie is going to have a $100M-$140M opening which will put it in second place for the largest domestic December opening of all time with ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ still holding the top spot. Of course, with a $247.96M opening, it will likely take some time for the current December box office king to be dethroned.
According to Atom Tickets, fans who purchase tickets will also be able to buy exclusive ‘Rogue One’ items such as a hoodie, t-shirt, and limited edition placard:
This venture marks Atom Tickets’ first entry beyond movie tickets and concessions.
Dave Hollis, head of distribution at The Walt Disney Studios adds:
“Disney strives to bring the highest-quality theatrical experiences to audiences, and Atom has developed an innovative, social approach to ticketing that enhances that trip to the movies. Through the Disney Accelerator Program, we were aware of and excited by Atom’s potential to offer filmgoers not only ease of use but a little something extra – and it’s hard to name a more deserving fandom to kick it off with than Star Wars.”
On the new initiative, Matthew Bakal, executive chairman and co-founder, Atom Tickets says:
“Bringing together ticketing and merchandise has always been part of the Atom vision, but we never could have imagined that we’d launch with one of the biggest film franchises of all time. It’s been an honor to work with Disney through the Accelerator Program and we’re thrilled that they’re entrusting us with this exclusive Rogue One: A Star Wars Story product offering for the ultimate Star Wars fans.”
With sales of the last ‘Star Wars’ film having gone on sale in October, there will be less time to snag them this year before the film’s premiere. Likely, they will sell out nearly as quickly.
