Ever since a solo Batman movie was rumored then confirmed, to be co-written, directed and starring Ben Affleck, fans have been speculating and clamoring for more information. But the film is still coming together, so a lot of that hasn’t been finalized.
One of the biggest subjects fans have wondered about is the title. We’ve already has ‘Batman’, ‘Batman Returns’, ‘Batman Forever’, ‘Batman & Robin’, ‘Batman Begins’, ‘The Dark Knight’ and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ and among aborted projects have been ‘Batman Unchained’ and ‘Batman: DarKnight’. What’s left? Something back to basics, it seems.
While promoting his new movie, ‘The Accountant’, Affleck replied:
“The movie I think is going to be called The Batman. At least that’s what we’re going with now. I might change it. We’re working on the script. The script is going well. I’m really excited about it.”
Affleck already shot down rumors that the movie would be based on ‘A Death In The Family’ and/or ‘Under The Red Hood’. Other rumors have swirled about the inclusion of Jared Leto’s Joker and Will Smith’s Deadshot. Margot Robbie has been confirmed to be headlining her own ‘Harley Quinn’ movie, so it’s probably unlikely (but not out of the question) that she will appear in ‘The Batman’.
One thing that has been concerned is that Joe Manganiello has been cast as Deathstroke the Terminator. J.K. Simmons will also costar as Commissioner James Gordon, and will debut in the role in ‘Justice League’. Jeremy Irons will also return as Alfred Pennyworth, after a scene-stealing turn in ‘Batman V Superman’.

Ben Affleck will next appear as Bruce Wayne/Batman in ‘Justice League’, directed by Zack Snyder, which is wrapping up filming now. The film arrives on November 17, 2017.
He is also expected to appear in the second ‘Justice League’ movie which is currently in a state of flux as it is not expected that Zack Snyder will be asked back, as was originally planned. It already has a release date set, though, which is May 23, 2016.
What do you think of the title ‘The Batman’? Is it simple and to the point? Or would you like something flashier?
