Power Rangers

The Power Rangers are returning to the silver screen and they’re doing it in style!

Lionsgate, the studio behind the upcoming ‘Power Rangers’ reboot, has released a fresh set of character posters today. While the last batch of character posters marked the reveal of the redesigned Power Ranger suits, today’s posters similarly serve to tease the redesigned zords. On the posters (which are included below), we can see each of the rangers posing with their respective zord.

Often compared to Iron Man’s armor, the new suits have a decidedly more technological or futuristic aesthetic that the iconic color-coded spandex of the TV series. Accordingly, the zord designs seem to be following suit. While we do not see any of the zords in full (they are, after all, giant robots), we do see enough to give us an idea of what the full designs may look like. Also noteworthy is that the new posters show each of the Rangers morphed with their helmets off, which was a common sight on the original show. Prior posters had at most shown something more along the lines of a helmeted “visors up” look (furthering comparisons to Iron Man).

Not content to simply leave us with these new posters, Lionsgate has also confirmed that a ‘Power Rangers’ panel will take place during New York Comic Con on October 8th. The panel will include several of the cast and filmmakers behind the reboot. While nothing has been confirmed, we can almost certainly expect some exciting tidbits at that panel, such as our first full looks at the individual zords and perhaps even a tease or reveal of the Megazord.

The highly anticipated film from director Dean Israelite stars Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Banks, Naomi Scott, Becky Gomez, RJ Cyler, Ludi Lin and Dacre Montgomery. ‘Power Rangers’ will morph into theaters on March 24, 2017.
