If you’re like me you just can’t wait for ‘Luke Cage‘ to be released in September (as everything Marvel that Netflix has touched is gold) and now they’ve released a new featurette to whet your appetite! Cage was recently introduced in ‘Jessica Jones‘ and in the comics has been a prominent member of ‘The Avengers’ as well as one of their leaders. In the Netflix show, we’re still getting his introduction as Mike Colter reprises his role as one of Marvel’s greatest and is shown here to be an incredibly strong hero with impenetrable skin.

When the show kicks off he will have just moved to Harlem and is trying to stay out of trouble but we quickly find out that Mahershala Ali’s Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes is running guns through town and Cage can’t let it slide.

The featurette below serves not only as an introduction to the character but a bit of his motivation as to why he is on track to become Harlem’s hero in the first season of his stand alone show. Unlike the heroes we’ve seen so far, Cage is confident and I suspect that they will be using this season to help set him up to possibly lead ‘The Defenders’ when we see all of our heroes come together for the greater good.

I didn’t think that I could want to see the series more than I already did and Netflix has proven me wrong. ‘Luke Cage’ is clearly going to have both great character development as well as action. While right off the bat it seems that Cage might not be in any immediate risk of injury I believe it will be the threat to innocent bystanders as well as his own privacy that will clearly be what is going to be working against him. Of course, Cottonmouth won’t be the main villain that cage is up against.
