It wouldn’t be a season of ‘Gotham’ without even more of Batman’s rogue gallery being introduced! We hear that Benedict Samuel (‘The Walking Dead’,’The Walk’) will be joining the cast as a series regular in the role of the Mad Hatter. Samuel will initially be introduced as Jervis Tetch though it clearly won’t be long until his life of crime truly kicks off. Tetch had come to Gotham to find his sister, Alice, who went missing years ago. Season 3 just got a whole lot stranger as he is already a talented hypnotist who is going a little mad and it will be interesting to see what ends up pushing him over the edge.

The original character showed up in ‘Batman’ #49 in 1948 and was created by Bill Finger who is responsible for much of the Caped Crusader’s villains and mythology. While created in the Golden Age, he was reimaged with many of Batman’s other foes in the 70s. Season 2 dropped a few hints about the Mad Hatter as Strange and Ethel Peabody spoke of his resurrection while holding ‘Through the Looking Glass’ and quoting from ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’.

I mean I think we can all agree it is pretty clear what direction they are going in.

We don’t have many specifics about the third season quite yet though it should start off with quite a bit of fire as the titles to the first two episodes are ‘Better To Reign In Hell…’ and ‘Burn The Witch.’ Not only that, but both Drew Powell’s Butch Gilzean and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Fish Mooney will be returning in the upcoming season. Other villains who will be popping up are the Tweedle Brothers, Talon from the Court of Owls, a new and older Poison Ivy, and rounding out the villains will be Solomon Grundy.

For non-villains, we have both Valerie Vale (Jamie Chung) & Mario Falcone (James Carpinello) making appearances and it wouldn’t surprise me if Vicki Vale will be showing up as well.

Are you looking forward to the Mad Hatter joining ‘Gotham’ as a villain or have we hit overload at this point? Share your thoughts below!
