The question of whether Marvel Studios would bring ‘Planet Hulk‘ to the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been one that has been circulating for quite some time. Back in 2013, Bruce Banner himself Mark Ruffalo smashed the rumors about an adaptation of the beloved storyline written by Greg Pak. Joss Whedon reiterated those sentiments a year later. But earlier this year, a report surfaced saying parts of that comic would manifest in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’. And now it seems that other sources are coming out to back up this claim.

According to JoBlo, the Asgardian Avenger will be searching for the “ultimate weapon” in order to stop Ragnarok from happening. This rumor says that his quest will lead him to a planet where a series of gladiatorial games (which are being run by Jeff Goldblum’s character, The Grandmaster) are taking place and it is there that the God of Thunder will be reunited with the Jade Giant. From there, Taika Waititi’s Phase Three film will be a mash-up of the ‘Planet Hulk’ and the ‘Ragnarok’ stories from Marvel Comics. Word is that we’ll even see Hulk’s one-shoulder armor as seen in the comics, as well as a new look for the Thunderer that includes a shaved head. Although, it’s still uncertain whether the games will actually take place on Sakaar or if the Warbound will make the cut.

As far as what the weapon is that Thor is searching for, that detail still remains a mystery. It really could be anything at this point from another Infinity Stone to his mighty axe Jarnbjorn. For all we know, it could be the incredible Hulk. But as production kicks into high gear, I’m sure that we’ll hear more details about Chris Hemsworth’s third solo MCU outing featuring a number of exciting new characters making the jump from the page to the screen such as Valkyrie, Hela, Skurge the Executioner, and more.

Are you excited to see parts of ‘Planet Hulk’ incorporated into ‘Thor: Ragnarok’? And what do you think this ultimate weapon is that has the power to stop the end of the world? Share your thoughts and theories in the comments below.
