Independence Day Resurgence

The one thing about sequels is that they tend to go bigger than the original film and ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ is no exception. The last trailer gave glimpses of what to expect: aliens using anti-gravity to cause massive annihilation, the complete destruction of famous landmarks, and more air combat but this time using fighter jets equipped with alien technology. If that trailer left you wanting more, then you’ll really be excited about the latest international trailer for the film. Who needs a lousy 2 minute teaser when you can get 5 glorious minutes worth of footage… which kind of makes you feel you saw the entire film.

Seriously, though, if you want to see the film fresh and unspoiled, then you really need to not see this trailer.

‘Independence Day’ is a favorite for many and this trailer for ‘Resurgence’ does seem to hit some of the same beats as its predecessor. Will it hit the same success at the box office?

We’ll see, but from the looks of the trailer below, the film does look like it will be just plain popcorn chomping fun.

We always knew they were coming back. After ‘Independence Day’ redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.

Directed by Roland Emmerich, ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ stars Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Sela Ward, Liam Hemsworth, Maika Monroe and Jesse Usher and will invade theaters on June 24.
