It seems Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o has a full plate these days, what with having just co-starred in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ as Maz Kanata, being part of the phenomenal cast appearing in Disney’s new live action ‘The Jungle Book,’ and the upcoming Disney chess drama ‘Queen of Katwe’ alongside David Oyelowo. Apparently she just cannot get enough of the Hollywood action at the moment, as now there is talk that she might be starring in the upcoming film ‘Intelligent Life,’ which will be produced by Colin Trevorrow of ‘Jurassic World’ fame.

‘Intelligent Life’ was originally titled ‘The Ambassador,’ and has been a project that Trevorrow has had in the works for some time. The film is about a U.N. worker who is part of a sleepy department that was created to represent the world in case of alien contact. Over the course of the film, the man falls in love with a mysterious woman (Nyong’o) who in the end turns out to be an alien.

The tone of the film is said to be similar to Trevorrow’s ‘Safety Not Guaranteed’, which makes sense as Trevorrow is writing the script himself, alongside his collaborator Derek Connolly. Set to produce is Frank Marshall and Trevorrow, with the film being released under the Amblin Entertainment banner, meaning Spielberg will have some involvement as well. Also exciting is the fact that the team wants Ava DuVernay (of ‘Selma’ fame) to direct, with an offer current out for her to accept the gig. DuVernay’s only other commitment at the moment is to direct Disney’s adaptation of ‘A Wrinkle in Time,’ but the projects do not have a scheduling conflict, so she could do both if she so desired.

What are your thoughts on the new project by Trevorrow and company? Do you think Nyong’o is the right choice for the mysterious alien woman? Does DuVernay fit the science-fiction leaning film? Share your opinions in the comments below!
