Thor Ragnarok Taika Waititi

Many rumors have been emerging lately around ‘Thor: Ragnarok’. We can say for sure that the Hulk will be joining his fellow Avenger in what is called a ‘Midnight Run’-esque buddy road film, but beyond that, we haven’t really received much confirmation as to what we can expect from the Thunderer’s third solo feature film. However, the director recently touched on a few more things that we can expect from the upcoming Phase Three movie.

While speaking to CNET about his latest film ‘Hunt For The Wilderpeople’ at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Taika Waititi revealed that his trademark comedy will follow him from his past projects such as ‘Flight of the Concords’ and ‘What We Do In The Shadows’ to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This shouldn’t be too much of a surprise since comedy has always been a pillar of the House of Ideas’ films, although the filmmaker says that he’s bringing something “fresher”:

“My strength in this is bringing my style of humor, which is probably a very different style of humor. They’ve had good jokes in them before, but I think where I come from is maybe a fresher style. It could just shake the entire thing up a bit.”

However, when the conversation switches to hints about the story, Waititi said that there is nothing to share just yet. After explaining that he feels like the new kid in class among the more veteran Marvel players, the director praised the collaborative efforts that are bringing ‘Ragnarok’ together. Alas, if details are what you’re looking for, they apparently aren’t that far along in the process yet:

“No, because I don’t even know. We’re still figuring out what characters are in it and how they all interact. We’re very early on in prep, storylining, figuring it all out.”

With a late 2017 release date, it’s not that surprising that the production is barely getting started. We’ll probably get a better idea of the God of Thunder’s next adventure around the time that ‘Captain America: Civil War’ hits theaters. But until then, let’s hear your thoughts and theories about ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ in the comments below.

‘Thor: Ragnarok’ starring Chris Hemsworth, Jamie Alexander, Tom Hiddleston, and Mark Ruffalo strikes theaters on November 3, 2017.
