While this holiday season has been all about a galaxy far, far away thanks to ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, moviegoers will travel to a whole new plane of existence next year thanks to ‘Doctor Strange.’ The upcoming Phase Three film from Scott Derrickson will venture into the astral plane as ‘Sherlock’ and ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ star Benedict Cumberbatch embodies the Sorcerer Supreme in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Previously, we’ve seen some glimpses of the production thanks to some set pictures that have made their way online, but now we have our first official look at the film as a late Christmas present from the House of Ideas.

On the fourth day of Christmas, Entertainment Weekly exclusively gave to us six brand new photos from ‘Doctor Strange’ that show off the hero’s costume, his Sanctum Santorum, and more. First up is the publication’s cover sporting Cumberbatch in full regalia including the iconic red cape and the mystical Eye of Agamotto:

The actor teases that “there’s all sorts of craziness [in ‘Doctor Strange’]” and we get a preview of that here thanks to the magazine, which shows the gestures made by the good doctor to conjure his magic and the trippy representation of the astral plane (which producer Kevin Feige says will retain the mind-expanding, psychedelic, 60s feel of the comics):

Without a doubt, Cumberbatch looks great in his costume. However, I feel like he looks a little young to be rocking Stephen Strange’s signature grey streaks in his hair. Other than that, these pictures definitely enough to get even the most skeptical True Believer excited for the movie.

‘Doctor Strange’ starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton, Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Mads Mikkelsen opens in theaters on November 4, 2016.
