The 12 Days of ‘Deadpool’ rolls along like a violent, twisted Advent Calendar.  Today’s gift?  A page from the film, taken from the sequence in which the Merc with a Mouth takes on the X-Men’s Colossus.  Of course in true ‘Deadpool’ style, the page is marked up with the off-kilter killer’s notes on how to “improve” it.

Check it out below:

Deadpool pulls no punches (no pun intended), freely jabbing at ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ the haphazard film in which star Ryan Reynolds debuted as Deadpool with plans to spin him off into a solo movie at an earlier time.  But the depiction in that movie didn’t match the cartoonish fan favorite from the comics– they sewed his mouth shut!  How can he make all those witty quip… he’s the Merc with a MOUTH!!!

But ‘X-Men Origins’ bombed and was among the events that Bryan Singer negated with his time-shuffling ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’, which made this new movie possible.

Not quite clear is the evolution of Colossus.  The slimmer Daniel Cudmore played the metal-plated mutant in prior ‘X-Men’ movies, but the character was never a very visible or important character.  In the new movie, the beefier Andre Tricoteux takes over and the character will largely be rendered in CGI.  This more bulky take is closer to the way the character is drawn in the comics, but it remains to be seen if the transition will be explained in ‘Deadpool’.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, ‘Deadpool’ tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

‘Deadpool’ directed by Tim Miller and starring Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, Gina Carano, and Ed Skrein hits theaters on February 12, 2016.
