‘Ant-Man’ is hitting stores just in time for the holiday season, but Marvel Studios has another holiday treat for True Believers regarding Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne’s upcoming team up titled ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp.’ While stars Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly along with director Peyton Reed have all been lined up to return since the Phase Three sequel was announced, the production has now officially announced the team writing the film.

According to Deadline, the team of Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari have finalized deals to pen the script for ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp.’ The pair have been on the scene since their first script ‘Die In A Gunfight’ landed on the 2010 Black List. From there, they put in work on currently unreleased films ‘Magic Castle’ and ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’, but they’re likely better known as being part of the massive ‘Transformers’ writers room led by Akiva Goldsman.

Barrer and Ferrari also contributed six months of their time to ‘Ant-Man’. Though they went uncredited on the final draft, they polished up the script in 2014 after Edgar Wright dropped out of the Phase Two finale and stayed on during production to act as on-set writers. But now they’re being brought in to work with Rudd on the script after the three of them break the story with ‘The Big Short’ and ‘Anchorman’ director Adam McKay.

Currently, the only details we have regarding ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ are that it will be “weirder” than the first one and it will focus on the relationship between the titular heroes and possibly the people that formerly carried their mantles. With the writing team assembled, we’re likely to get more info late next year, probably around or after ‘Doctor Strange’ hits theaters. But no matter what they do, let’s hope that Michael Pena’s Luis makes a comeback.

‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ hits theaters on July 6, 2018.
