The costumes from one of next year’s most anticipated movies, ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ will be on display this weekend at NYCC but you don’t have to be in New York to get an up close glimpse of them.  This new video gives you an insider’s look at these new takes on the iconic uniforms of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.

Costume designer Michael Wilkinson is on hand to reveal some of what went into the year-long process of reinvigorating these classic looks for this new film interpretation, including the Kryptonian secrets woven into Kal-El’s famous red and blues and the visual contrast between the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight.  And how did he help convey Wonder Woman’s ancient mysticism?  It’s all in the video.

Take your behind-the-scenes look at the costumes yourself, in this clip which includes footage from the movie as well as previously unreleased photos and concept art.  Watch below:

Shown in the video is this previously unseen photo of Ben Affleck in the Batman suit:

It’s still rather drab, to the point of almost seeming black and white, except there is some color in one of the reflective lights on the Batmobile.  Even so, after watching the video and learning how this version of Batman is supposed to be bulkier than Superman, does that come across in the photo?  Does Affleck match up to the Frank Miller aesthetic Wilkinson discussed?

What do you think of the costumes now that you’ve seen some of the thought that went into them before they were constructed?  Do you appreciate the subtle details that you might have missed otherwise?

Directed by Zack Snyder, ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, and Jesse Eisenberg. The film flies into a Bat-theater near you on March 25, 2016.
