Chances are the 2-part ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ will be the most ambitious project that Marvel Studios will get to do on the big screen and that has to make you wonder what comics the Russos are planning to use for the story. With Jim Starlin being both Thanos’s creator and having written the bulk of the Mad Titan’s adventures, it should be no surprise that his work is on the list. But what was interesting, was the inclusion of books by Jonathan Hickman which is a far more recent run that takes place years after the events of the ‘Infinity Gauntlet’  and don’t really focus too much on what occurred there aside from sharing some of the same characters. Honestly, if you are going to talk about either cosmic Marvel or Thanos, these are probably the two best writers to be following so I’m glad to see that the directors have their priorities straight.

At least that’s what Jeremy Latcham, one of the film’s producers mentioned when he was at the recent press event for the home release of ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’:

“I was in an Infinity War meeting with the Russos earlier today and there are really old Starlin stuff, there’s really new Hickman stuff, there’s all kinds of stuff sitting on this table. And it’s really kind of chaotic, like ‘Oh, there’s a great issue here. There’s a great moment here. Let’s talk about all of them. Let’s make sure we are looking at everything.’ I think that’s part of what’s fun, it doesn’t matter when it was written, in the books, if it’s great it’s great and we want to find a way to put it into the movie. Part of the job. Part of the fun.”

If they are choosing the best of various runs I’m hoping to not only see Thanos wipe out half the universe with the snap of a finger but also The Black Order helping him out.
