Earlier this week, a variety of promotional materials were released to promote the upcoming season premiere of ‘The Flash’ on The CW. Everything from trailers, TV spots, posters, and pictures have hit the web this week, but now the first clip from the Scarlet Speedster’s second season has been released as well.

Ahead of this Tuesday’s new episode, actress Candice Patton appeared on the Studio 11 LA talk show to promote the fan favorite ‘Arrow’ spinoff. During her appearance, she brought along the first clip from the episode ‘The Man Who Saved Central City.’ While there’s not a whole lot to the clip, it does feature a nice moment between Patton’s Iris West and her father Joe. You can see it for yourself along with the full interview in the video below, followed by the official synopsis of the season premiere:

Picking up months after the Singularity attacked Central City, Barry is still struggling to forgive himself for Eddie’s death.  Concerned about putting his friends in danger, Barry has pushed everyone away and has chosen to protect the city on his own.  When a meta-human named Atom Smasher attacks the city, Iris tells Barry that he needs to let his friends help him protect the citizens of Central City. Meanwhile, Cisco helps Joe with his Meta Task Force.

Enjoy this father-daughter moment while you can because I have a feeling that things will be shaken up a bit in Central City when ‘Melrose Place’ and ‘Candyman’ star Vanessa Williams joins the cast of ‘The Flash’ as Iris’ mother. We don’t know for sure yet how she’ll factor into the new season, but whether she’s seen in a flashback, comes from Earth-2 like Jay Garrick and Atom Smasher, or appears in the show’s main timeline, chances are that she’ll be making some kind of impact for the West family.

What do you think about the first clip from the second season of ‘The Flash’? Are you excited to see more of Joe and Iris West? And how do you think Vanessa Williams will factor into things in Central City? Share your thoughts and theories in the comments.
