Lionsgate has rolled out another trailer for ‘The Last Witch Hunter,’ this one delving more heavily into the world-building aspects of the new film, revealing a bit more of the mythology of the world the story takes place in, as well as giving us more glimpses at the supernatural creatures and characters Kaulder (Vin Diesel) will be going up against. While its name and content might be a bit similar to an older Lionsgate film (‘Season of the Witch’ starring Nicolas Cage), this movie seems to have better production value, as well as a more intriguing story, borrowing what feels like elements from ‘Inception‘ (the dream walking) and ‘Constantine‘ (battling the supernatural) to create something that looks like it might be decent.

Do not get me wrong though, coming from Lionsgate, whose track record (outside the ‘Hunger Games’ franchise) has not been great, I probably will wait to see the reviews before going to see ‘The Last Witch Hunter,’ but this might just be one that they manage to get right.

The modern world holds many secrets, but the most astounding secret of all is that witches still live amongst us; vicious supernatural creatures intent on unleashing the Black Death upon the world. Armies of witch hunters battled the unnatural enemy across the globe for centuries, including KAULDER, a valiant warrior who managed to slay the all-powerful QUEEN WITCH, decimating her followers in the process. In the moments right before her death, the QUEEN curses KAULDER with her own immortality, forever separating him from his beloved wife and daughter in the afterlife. Today KAULDER is the only one of his kind remaining, and has spent centuries hunting down rogue witches, all the while yearning for his long-lost loved ones. However, unbeknownst to KAULDER, the QUEEN WITCH is resurrected and seeks revenge on her killer causing an epic battle that will determine the survival of the human race.
