Fox is in full swing on releasing new quotes and images from their upcoming ‘X-Men: Apocalypse‘ as we have great shots of Psylocke, Magneto, Apocalypse, Storm, Quicksilver, and so much more! With San Diego Comic-Con 2015 having just come and gone, it is actually surprising that we didn’t see more from the film visually emerge there. Apocalypse is clearly the big bad guy who will be squaring off against the X-Men in the upcoming film and Oscar Isaac who plays him says that:

“He’s believed to be the first mutant, whatever that means. He is the creative-slash-destructive force of this earth. When things start to go awry, or when things seem like they’re not moving towards evolution, he destroys those civilizations.”

When discussing why they went with Apocalypse as the villain in the movie writer-producer, Simon Kinberg chimed in that they had to pretty much top the last movie to endcap the current trilogy.

“The problem with Days of Future Past is it’s hard to sequelize. Whenever we talked about the sequel, the challenge was that it needed to feel not necessarily bigger visually, but that the stakes needed to feel bigger.”

With the last story coming to a close, this will also lay the groundwork for the next trilogy and what will be coming in the future. We’re introduced to younger versions of the X-Men with a new Storm, Jean Grey, and Cyclops. While Bryan Singer won’t be returning, he does know that this is the start of a new adventure for these actors as:

“This is kind of the introduction to them. At the same time, it has concluding aspects of those previous stories. “It’s a chaotic world of conflict and war and destruction. It’s one giant civilization that now requires one giant culling. That’s why he needs special assistants in this process.”

Sounds like everything has been completely mapped out and I’m excited to see how it comes together on the big screen. For a first look though lets check out some of the fantastic images below!

Singer has always understood the X-Men universe and even when making changes to it has kept the tone familiar to comic fans. His re-imaging has been great and it’ll be sad to see him leave the franchise. I can only hope that his farewell in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ ends up being as good as the first shots have looked.
