When ‘Lost’ and ‘The Hobbit’ star Evangeline Lilly was cast in ‘Ant-Man’, many True Believers speculated whether she would be Janet Van Dyne AKA the hero known as the Wasp after the character failed to appear alongside Hank Pym in ‘The Avengers’ as they did in the comics. However, the actress ended up playing Hope Van Dyne, the duo’s daughter that helps her father train Scott Lang to become the hero of the Phase Two finale. But once that mission is complete, will Hope stick around the Marvel Cinematic Universe in some capacity? Marvel Studios’ head honcho recently gave us the low down.

According to Screen Rant, Kevin Feige shared during the ‘Ant-Man’ press junket over the weekend that Hope won’t be lost when the credits roll on the next film from the MCU. In fact, we’re likely to see hints at the next steps for Lilly’s character in Peyton Reed’s upcoming movie:

“We have plans for her in the future, and we see that not-so-subtly in this film.”

Though it’s easy to jump to this conclusion, it’s important to note that Feige doesn’t mention the mantle of the Wasp when he brings up these plans for Miss Van Dyne. However, we previously learned that Hope isn’t a fan of her father’s choice to don the Ant-Man suit at first. Could this lead to her taking up her mother’s superhero identity down the line? That seems to make the most sense since if her father won’t endorse his intelligent and capable daughter to follow in his ant-sized footsteps. Either way, I’m sure that we’ll have a better idea of Evangeline Lilly’s future at the House of Ideas next month when ‘Ant-Man’ premieres.

Are you excited to hear that Hope Van Dyne will be factored into Marvel Studios’ plans moving forward? Do you think that she’ll definitely suit up as the Wasp? Let us know in the comments below.
