While not the central plot point to the new ongoing ‘Thor‘ comic, Marvel has been keeping the new Thor’s identity a closely guarded secret – until now! The big reveal was set to come out in ‘Thor’ #8 which is due on stands tomorrow but writer Jason Aaron and artist Russell Dauterman are going to have to settle for their creation to be revealed 24 hours early. Obviously you are going to want to head back now True Believers if you want to wait until seeing it on page to know who now wields Mjolnir!
Oh yes, there is another big secret that gets shown off here as well.

So, it is a normal mortal and not an Asgardian. That isn’t too surprising even though the look of whoever was going for the hammer seemed to be without any form of a suit to keep them safe from the dangers of space. Also how did said person who may or may not have super powers or be a super hero get to the moon in the first place? Who is it? Who could it be? WHO?!
There you go ladies and gentlemen, Dr. Jane Foster is Thor! Not only is she Thor but being the God of Thunder seems to be killing her on top of that! Which is interesting since she was already dying of Cancer prior to becoming Thor so she has a limited life span as it is. This could mean that soon enough someone else will have to be worthy of becoming the God of Thunder which is probably an in for Odinson to wield the hammer once more.
I’m still a little miffed on how she got to the moon to get to the hammer and hope it gets explained in the issue though with ‘Secret Wars’ about to kick off, I suspect that this is a mystery that we won’t be journeying to anytime soon.
