Obviously, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are excited for ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ and ‘Ant-Man’ this summer, but everyone is looking to the future as well. The Phase Three schedule is diverse, exciting, and even terrifying when you think about what could happen to our beloved characters, however, whenever news has emerged regarding the upcoming Marvel Studios line-up lately, it seems that the conversation is slanted heavily towards ‘Captain America: Civil War’, the first film of the next chapter of the MCU, and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, the epic two-part blockbuster that will likely bring everyone together to face a threat unlike any they’ve seen before. While there is plenty to be excited about when it comes to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and the Sentinel of Liberty, a number of heroes that have yet to make their big screen debuts are currently in pre-production on their first films. For instance, horror movie director Scott Derrickson is hard at work on ‘Doctor Strange’ starring Benedict Cumberbatch right now and recently a report emerged that supposedly reveals some new details about the Sorcerer Supreme.

Since word got out that Dr. Stephen Strange would be starring in his own Marvel Studios film, those involved have been pretty quiet about all aspects of the production. Even after just being freshly cast as the good doctor, Cumberbatch practically perfected the art of keeping quiet the Marvel way. We saw this at this year’s Academy Awards when he tiptoed around a question about the accent of Master of the Mystic Arts. But now thanks to JoBlo, we may have uncovered some news about what the ‘Sherlock’ star will look like in the MCU. According to their sources, Strange will be wearing the traditional red cape and blue outfit from the comics, except the collar will be much smaller and a vest will be incorporated into the ensemble.

In addition to some fashion tidbits, they learned about some of the exotic locations that we’ll be seeing in the film. Similar to the source material, it is said that the film will feature plenty of astral projections and other dimensions, which is what one would come to expect from a Doctor Strange movie. But apparently much of the action will take place between dimensions with “Inception-like visuals”. We have heard that Phase Three will expand the MCU in ways that we haven’t seen before and this would certainly accomplish that. It will certainly be interesting to see what dimensions Strange will take us to as he fights off Baron Mordo, Dormammu, and their legions of Mindless Ones, all of which are rumored to be the villains of the film.

It’s important to note that these reports on costumes, locales, and villains should be taken with a grain of salt for the time being, but if proven to be true, Scott Derrickson’s ‘Doctor Strange’ seems to be on the right track. So while we wait on confirmation regarding this information, what do you think about the latest news on the Sorcerer Supreme? Are you excited to see what Marvel Studios can do with him?
