We’re closing in on the final film Peter Jackson will be creating that’s set in Middle-earth and we’ve got a great image from ‘The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies‘ to share with you. ‘The Hobbit’ saga all ends on December 17th as we watch the gathered heroes of Middle-earth make a last stand at the base of the Lonely Mountain as elves, man, and dwarves unite to save their lands.

Considering this is a prequel to ‘Lord of the Rings,’ and one of the most epic fantasies ever written on its own right, I’m sure you know how this movie will end. Still, this is a pretty great teaser that should keep us all set until their huge Comic-Con presentation next week where we’ll find out a slew of details about the film!

In the image below, we see Ian McKellen as Gandalf and Luke Evans as Bard who are quite unnerved and shocked by whatever it is that they see before them. While I could be wrong, I’m going to guess it has something to do with Smaug and an army of Orcs.

I feel my face is going to be similar to the two above once the film is over as I won’t have new fantasy by Peter Jackson again. Hopefully he can find another epic world to play in that will be able to capture just as many hearts and imaginations as this one. My vote is for ‘Dune’!

Are you ready to take one last epic adventure into the realm of Middle-earth?

Synopsis:

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves. Having reclaimed their homeland from the Dragon Smaug, the Company has unwittingly unleashed a deadly force into the world. Enraged, Smaug rains his fiery wrath down upon the defenseless men, women and children of Lake-town. Obsessed above all else with his reclaimed treasure, Thorin sacrifices friendship and honor to hoard it as Bilbo’s frantic attempts to make him see reason drive the Hobbit towards a desperate and dangerous choice. But there are even greater dangers ahead. Unseen by any but the Wizard Gandalf, the great enemy Sauron has sent forth legions of Orcs in a stealth attack upon the Lonely Mountain. As darkness converges on their escalating conflict, the races of Dwarves, Elves and Men must decide – unite or be destroyed. Bilbo finds himself fighting for his life and the lives of his friends in the epic Battle of the Five Armies, as the future of Middle-earth hangs in the balance.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies opens in 2D, 3D, HFR 3D, and IMAX 3D on December 17th.
