If you’re a Marvel fan, you’re probably preoccupied at the moment by ‘Daredevil,’ an incredible series that is currently streaming on Netflix. But Matt Murdock’s struggle against Wilson Fisk isn’t the only shiny, new piece of the Marvel Cinematic Universe coming our way in the near future. In only a few short weeks, Joss Whedon returns to a theater near you with ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron.’ And after seeing them in their own separate adventures since 2012, we’ll get to see Earth’s Mightiest Heroes at it again, except this time they’ll be facing a raging robot created by one of their own. But did this come to be? The latest promotional material for the upcoming Phase Two film helps us find the answers.

Recently, Yahoo released a new featurette exploring the origins of Ultron, the villainous AI played by James Spader. In the video, key players in the birth of the character both on and off-screen including Robert Downey Jr., Joss Whedon, and Kevin Feige share the details of how the big bad came to be. Be sure to check out it out below, followed by the official synopsis of the film:

When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to the Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.
