There has been some fun casting over the weekend for Starz’ ‘Ash vs. Evil Dead‘ as Lucy Lawless is joining the cast. It’s kind of like a mini-Xena reunion with Lawless, Bruce Campbell, Sam Raimi, and her husband Rob Tapert all working together again. We found this out when Campbell initially was talking about Lawless and casually mentioned that “she’s going to be on the show.”
That’s right folks. Straight from GroovyBruce himself, we are having Lawless join the cast! According to Campbell:
We just added her to our cast, and I got to tell you, I couldn’t be happier. Some actors you work with and you know that you’re going to fail the chemistry test. There are some that you know you won’t fail it. She’s great; I worked with her a lot in the Xena days, and it’s great to have her on Ash vs. Evil Dead… She is a beautiful woman who is very talented. I expect her to hog every one of our scenes, and I’ll let her because she’s Lucy Lawless; we want her to be happy on the show, and we have a very good part for her.“
Personally the thought of these two having some banter back and forth once again just puts a smile on my face. Only on top of bickering it sounds as if the two will be throwing a few punches as well as she isn’t going to be on Campbell’s side in the series. While Bruce had only said that she does a great job at “playing extreme characters,” which is what she’ll be doing in the show, Starz elaborated a bit on her role.
Lawless is going to be playing a woman named Ruby. She is “a mysterious figure who is myopic in her quest to hunt down the source of the recent Evil outbreaks … the only problem: she believes that Ash (Bruce Campbell) is the cause of it all.”
