It’s been a roller-coaster ride of rumors and gossip, with just earlier this week it being reported that Tatiana Maslany was going to star in the new ‘Star Wars’ spin-off, but now at last we have official news, with Felicity Jones in talks to landing the potential role of a life-time as the lead female in the film. Also of note is the casting rumors regarding Aaron Paul and Edgar Ramirez, both rumored to be up for the lead male role in the film.

Aaron Paul, who most people associate with his role on ‘Breaking Bad,’ would be an interesting addition to the cast and bring a certain realism and intensity to the galaxy far, far away. Originally the rumor-mill had said the lead male role was a “young Han Solo,” but that seems unlikely due to the fact that Paul looks like he would have a hard time fitting the part. Unless they meant that the character would be similar to a young Han Solo, which would make a bit more sense.

However, if they were looking to cast a young Han Solo, Edgar Ramirez would not be a bad choice. He could easily portray a young Harrison Ford, the hair color is right, and he looks like he could have a cocky swagger that has always defined the character. Of course, this is all only if they are actually looking for a young Han Solo.

As this week has already proven with the Maslany rumor however, nothing with the ‘Star Wars’ standalone should be completely believe until it is corroborated with the studio and the filmmakers. There is also a chance they are looking to cast Boba Fett after all, which I think would be a very cool role for someone like Aaron Paul. We’ll know soon enough as the film is set to begin shooting this spring in Pinewood Studios, with a release date of December 16th, 2016.
