The casting for Disney’s next live action fairy tale adaptation just got a huge dose of star power as Emma Watson (‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,’ ‘This is the End’) has just signed on to play Belle in director Bill Condon’s (‘Kinsey’,’The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2′) film ‘Beauty and the Beast.’

With ‘Maleficent‘ being a hit and ‘Into the Woods‘ almost tripling their budget, it is no surprise that Disney is willing to bet big on their future endeavors. Not that the studio has had any problems getting eyes on their films in quite some time.

The script is by Stephen Chbosky (‘Rent,’ ‘Jericho’) and we also have David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman on board as producers. This will make for three Disney films in the works as ‘Cinderella‘ and ‘The Jungle Book’ are currently in production.

Some of you might think that this news seems familiar and there is a reason for that. This isn’t the first time Watson has been attached to ‘Beauty and the Beast’ as Belle. Only, last time it wasn’t for Disney but from when Guillermo del Toro was working on ‘Beauty‘ for Warner Brothers before the project fell apart last June. It seems that del Toro and both studios seem to feel that she is the perfect fit for this iconic character.

Emma is clearly also excited to take on the role as she shared the following on Facebook:

Seems like a match made for the big screen. What are your thoughts on Watson taking on Belle for Disney? Do you think it is a good fit? Share your thoughts below!
