Developer Techland has released a launch trailer for their open world zombie survival game ‘Dying Light’.
The launch trailer shows off some shots of ‘Dying Light’s’ standout features, that being the melee and freerunning-centric gameplay that the game puts a lot of its focus on. There is also some bits of gameplay showing the game’s other major feature, which is its day/night system. Overall, it isn’t a whole lot new, but it certainly looks to be reminding gamers what they will be getting when the game finally comes out.
‘Dying Light’ is an open world zombie survival game that puts players in the role of Kyle Crane, an undercover operative who must investigate a quarantine zone in the city of Harran in order to locate a military official who has gone missing. However, things soon take a turn for the worst upon Crane’s arrival there as the city of Harran itself is embroiled in chaos with a zombie virus consuming its citizens, and those left alive split into warring factions immersed in conflict against each other.
In further news, Techland had announced Be the Zombie Mode earlier this month, a 4 v 1 competitive/cooperative multiplayer mode where a single player controls a “night stalker” zombie against four human players in a cat and mouse battle. While the mode was initially announced as a timed exclusive to those who preordered the game, Techland recently announced that it would be made available to everyone for free following a delay to the disc versions of the game in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia.
Announced back in May 2013, ‘Dying Light’ was initially set to release in 2014. However, a series of date changes had finally pushed and pulled the game forward for release on January 27. The game also had proposed releases on PS3 and Xbox 360 as well. But those versions were inevitably cancelled due to Techland believing that ‘Dying Light’ would be able to run properly on those platforms.
‘Dying Light’ will be making its way onto the PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PC on January 27.
