It’s no secret that one of the best parts of ‘The Avengers’ was the Hulk. True Believers gravitated towards Mark Ruffalo’s version of the green goliath and he quickly became a fan favorite. And though we haven’t seen him smash since 2012, he’s primed to make a comeback in a big way when ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ hits theaters this year. But a new image suggests that Bruce Banner’s extra angry alter ego may be coming back a little different.

Late last year, we learned that Andy Serkis was brought in to work with Ruffalo on the motion capture for the Hulk in Joss Whedon’s upcoming sequel. As we’ve seen from the trailers, the jade giant looks better than ever. However, there may be more visual changes in store for the strongest there is when the Phase Two film is released. According to PopVinyls.com, there’s a possibility that we’ll be seeing Grey Hulk in the next adventure featuring Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. The site shared a photo of the adorable Funko POP! figures coming to a store near you next month to promote the film. In addition to franchise new comers Ultron and the Vision, you’ll see that Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, and Hawkeye are all sporting their new costumes. But the Hot Topic exclusive figure shows the Hulk in his grey form and labeled as “Savage Hulk”:

Of course, it’s very common for toy lines to include variants as an extra incentive for collectors, even if the character doesn’t appear in the movie in that form or at all. I recall the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Marvel Legends line including an Iron Man figure despite the fact that he only makes an appearance on the team in the comics.

Although, it’s not completely far fetched to think that the Hulk might appear with his original coloring in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Cinemablend speculates that the Scarlet Witch could cast a spell on the Avengers that traps them in their own hallucinations, which would find Banner dealing with a version of himself that’s even more out of control than before. This would be a departure from the source material since Grey Hulk is known to be less powerful yet more intelligent than the regular Hulk, but the nod to the character’s first appearance in 1962 is still appreciated.
