‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, directed by James Gunn, may have shattered records and currently rank as 2014’s highest grossing film, outperforming even the highly-anticipated sequel ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ but say what you will, as crowd-pleasing a space romp as this flick was, it was missing one crucial ingredient– a dance battle.
Yes, Ronan the Accuser took on the Guardians in a dance battle, but unfortunately, this sequence wound up on the cutting room floor (which is where all of ‘Step Up: All In’ should have ended up, ZING!). But fans will be able to get their fill of this intergalactic freestyle smackdown, because it’s being included in the blooper reel bonus on the BluRay/DVD release of the film, which arrives in just weeks on December 9th, in time for the gift-giving season. Expect additional extras, including deleted scenes, behind the scenes featurettes and most likely a preview of ‘Avengers: Age of Ulton’.
As far as the blooper reel, in addition to the dance off, there is a shot of Karen Gillan(Nebula) getting a bit too close to slicing Zoe Saldana‘s (Gamora) head off! What’s also interesting is that there are bloopers for Rocket and Groot, some of which are fully animated, some of which are not. It’s interesting that they’d go to the trouble and expense to fully animate a blooper scene.
