As always when it comes to set photos from the fifth season of HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones‘ you should be aware that there are going to be spoilers below. Not only do we have a couple of HUGE spoilers in this one though but they also suggests we’ll be seeing another deviation in the story from George R.R. Martin’s ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series.
I’ve given you plenty of time to head back now, so let’s take a look at the behind the scenes photos below which look to have been taken in Spain in Osuna’s bullring which is set to display Daznak’s fighting pit in Meereen. Let’s take a look!
So I said there were spoilers and this is a big one. In ‘A Dance with Dragons’ we read that Dany and Hizdahr zo Loraq are wed to bring about peace in Meereen which causes the fighting pits to be closed. There is one last tournament set for their wedding though. However, in the images you could clearly see two big changes from the novel.
The first of which is Iain Glenn’s Ser Jorah who is actually fighting in the pits and the image of Peter Dinklage’s Tyrion sitting near Dany. Is this going to give us a team up between Dany and Tyrion that will some how lead to her rule of the Iron Throne? My mind is getting blown here, but I always see Tyrion as someone who, like his father, is the power behind the throne and not necessarily on the throne himself. It seems interesting that at least two of the major changes from the novels involve the Lannisters and I’m curious to see if they are setting up a closing story line earlier than Martin himself was able to do in the novels.
