With the cast of ‘The Walking Dead‘ always in shambles from human fighting human and the occasional zombie actually killing a major character, it’s good to see that AMC is bringing a new actress to the show! One of the more talented actresses who are sure to raise a few eyebrows that will be joining the cast is Alexandra Breckenridge (‘True Blood’,’Family Guy’). You might recognize Breckinridge  who did an outstanding job as the seductive younger version of Moira on the first season of ‘American Horror Story.’. I’m happy to see that Breckenridge is not only still getting juicy roles, but ones that keep her in the genre as well!

The fifth season is starting to look that much better!

It looks like her early announcement of being on the show is that she will be in the role of a character named Samantha. Now, going by the history of ‘The Walking Dead,’ a character name and synopsis is always tentative and could just be a way to hide who she is actually playing when she premieres on the show. Her character’s description which at the very least is probably accurate is that of an “attractive, strong, smart, charming and articulate woman who also has a vulnerable side. She’s a mother with a bohemian spirit, and a talented artist.”

She’ll be joining Seth Gilliam as a new lead on the show this season as he is on board to play the infamous Father Gabriel. I have a feeling this ex-‘The Wire’ alum will truly be able to have his part shine and I just hope that Samantha will prove to be just as interesting of a character.

I’m not sure how she’ll be using art to keep herself and possibly her child safe during a zombie apocalypse but I suppose it depends on what kind of artist she is. For example, if she does woodcarving she could very well be making spears and arrows. I’m sure Darryl wouldn’t mind a refill of professionally made arrows right about now.

What do you think of the inclusion of Samantha in the upcoming season of ‘The Walking Dead’? Do you think an artist will somehow fit in with our ragtag group of survivors or will she just be someone who makes a brief appearance while they try to find a new safe zone or try to make it to Washington D.C.?
