Hasbro and Universal probably thought that the toy box would be spilling out into theaters around the world by now thanks to their deal from 2008 to create movies based on some of their most popular products, but after the domestic failure of ‘Battleship,’ things seemed to slow down on ‘Candy Land,’ ‘Stretch Armstrong,’ and ‘Clue’ (again). However, we learned that ‘Ouija‘ picked up some traction again about two years ago and now the film will be released in time for this year’s Halloween.

From ‘Boogeyman’ and ‘Knowing’ screenwriters Juliet Snowden and Stiles White, the upcoming horror movie starring Olivia Cooke of ‘Bates Motel’ and Douglas Smith of ‘Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters’ follows a group of friends that must confront their most terrifying fears when they awaken the dark powers of an ancient spirit board as they try to contact a deceased friend.

Recently, the first trailer debuted and showed off how the filmmakers turned a slumber party classic into a genuinely frightening cinematic experience. Now, a second trailer has premiered to give us another look into this creepy flick that looks like it could exceed expectations that come with the phrase “board game movie”. You can check out the trailer below:

Judging by Debbie’s fate, this isn’t exactly an ‘Are You Afraid of the Dark?’ or ‘Goosebumps’ level of scary. Though it doesn’t look like the scariest thing to hit theaters this decade, it should provide some fun for those of us looking to get into the Halloween mood.

What do you think of the latest trailer for ‘Ouija’? Will you be checking it out in theaters this Halloween season? And are you among those who are creeped out by the board game in general? Let us know in the comments.

‘Ouija’ starring Olivia Cooke, Douglas Smith, and Bianca Santos manifests in theaters on October 24, 2014.
