There have been quite a few names that have popped up on the rumor mill as to who would play Doctor Stephen Strange for Marvel Studios and the latest name to top that list is Jack Huston (‘Outlander,’ ‘Boardwalk Empire’). While we know that Scott Derrickson was tapped to direct, the casting rumors have been flying and never slowed down. From Johnny Depp to Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Jon Hamm to Joaquin Phoenix, the part just keeps changing. At least all of these rumors have been consistant enough to cast an actor whose initial begins with a J.

That has to mean something, right?

Huston has done a lot of work over the years in both film and movies and recently  joined the cast of ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.’ With an increase in lead offers and the looks and talent to pull off the roles, Huston could be just the man that Marvel would look to sign up as the good doctor. Robert Downey Jr. aside, most of the leads for Marvel films are actors who weren’t A-listers – at least they weren’t when cast. While Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L Jackson both were at the time of their castings, they aren’t generally in as a lead character.

I’m sure it doesn’t hurt that Huston had auditioned and was close to having the Star-Lord role before Chris Pratt ended up with it for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’ If he was a runner up for one leading role with the studio, it would make sense that they may want to use him for another as long as they ended the interview process on good terms. While this is another rumor to add to the list, it is one that could carry some weight.

Could you see Jack Huston taking on the robes and dark arts to play the Sorcerer Supreme? If not who would you like to see in the role? Share your thoughts below true believers!
